It's been 6 months, but I reorganized my craft room after a trip to IKEA. This is the closet. My cutting table is on the left and sewing table to the right. The rolling cart with the slide-out baskets is a new IKEA purchase.
Curtains are Amy Butler Woodfern fabric. I have used that fabric for several things throughout the room. The small chair is recovered in IKEA fabric and the large white chair is an IKEA purchase.
I absolutely love the EXPEDIT bookcase from IKEA. I can't believe how much stuff this thing holds. The white bookcase is an old Target purchase. I bought tons of clear shoeboxes to organize current projects, paints, ribbon, etc. Patterns are in larger ones on the bottom two shelves.

This is the wreath that Bobbie and I made for our department's door at the hospital. We had a ball making all the felt flowers, but then we got busy (how dare work get in the way of fun stuff?) and had to pretty much throw it all together. I still think it came out great! A little different than my usual style, but fun and whimsical.

Hubby and I went to our 8-year old grandson's birthday party at the bowling alley yesterday.

This is Colby and Danyael, two of my grandsons. Danyael was pretty disappointed in his gifts because his Mom told everyone not to get him any more toys, as he has too many. So everyone got him clothes. Well, guess who got him toys??? Yep, you guessed it...his parents.

What color do you think the icing on the cake was? And no, Colby did not eat a smurf!

This is my first night shift in many years. So far it is 1am and I'm still surviving. I am doing this for 6 months. I can do anything for 6 months, right? I'll probably look back at this post in September and LMAO!

Two Days of Sewing

I just love looking at other blogs and seeing what everyone else is whipping up. I've been busy sewing the past couple of days and thought I'd share. You know all the little girls' cute little ruffled rumba pantaloons you see on etsy? Well, I've had pantaloon envy and decided I wanted - no NEEDED - a pair of my own. So I made not one, but two pair today. The first pair is made with the Michael Miller Carnival Bloom print...

The best part is the comfy waistband made of cotton/lycra interlock. I bought some scrubs a few weeks ago that have this waistband and they are soooo comfy, if not maternity-looking. I don't really care what the waistband looks like because it will be covered by my shirt. The most important thing is how they feel when I'm lounging in them, because lounging is a rare art form that I have mastered. The most important thing about lounging is comfy clothes that don't pinch or bind.

So I decided to make another pair out of Michael Miller Kiwi Patti Paisley...

I saw the trixie bag from Purse Strings Patterns and thought it was the cutest thing I've ever seen. I couldn't wait for the pattern, because I am too impatient when it comes to wanting to sew and wanting to sew now. So, yes, I "sew-lifted" the idea from them and came up with my own version. I should have waited for the pattern. It probably would have taken me half the time with their tips and hints for things like the gathers, which were whipping my butt. And I changed several things, like the handles and the size.

The rose has a magnetic closure under it.

And I included a clip so I can attach my keys and won't be digging around for them. I hate using black for the lining of a purse because it becomes a black hole when trying to find things, but I didn't have enough of the cream fabric. I got both fabrics at Joann's from the clearance fabric. It's a good thing cause there are two yards worth of ruffles on this baby.

Lastly, I wanted a sturdy bag that would hold lunch for 2-3 days so that when I work several days in a row I can bring everything the first day. I fused muslin to the back of this Amy Butler French Wallpaper fabric and it is the coolest thing. It turns it into a canvas. Then I lined it with AB kiwi stripe. I based this one on a free pattern at the TinyHappy Blog that was written by a New Zealander. It reminded my of a smaller version of Amy Butler's nappy bag that I do one day hope to make. Maybe if I do the picture I take of it won't be this blurry.

So that knocked 4 things off of my "I NEED to sew this" list. Off to make dinner.......ta ta!
